The wheel is clear today, and  I think The Queen deserves a day of rest, because she’s been working hard! My thighs deserve a bit of a rest too, for that matter. Up there, you have 792 yards of lacey goodness, my friends. Dance Fever, 2-ply, 100% merino.

Ain’t she a beaut?! This has been my best yardage to date, and I must say, I’m pretty proud. I’ve already picked out a pattern for her too; a little ambitious for me, but how can I not knit this into something absolutely magnificent!  And speaking of knitting with handspun, I do hope you’ll join me over in my group where I’ll be hosting a Back to School Handspun KAL running alongside the Must Stash ladies (so, yeah, double dip it up)!

In other news: an FO!

…sort of. Still gotta weave in those ends!

And my most favorite WIP this week:

IMG_4425

Paulette is working up quick as lightening, quite possibly because I’m using the wrong needle size, but no matter. Chances are, I’m gonna have to frog the whole thing because of a shortage of yarn (since the needles are too big), but hey, maybe not! We’ll see what happens. This one is for my 3 y/o and now that I think about it, I think I accidentally cast on for the size 6 (instead of 4)… Anyhow, the yarn’s some self-dyed (over-dyed actually) Knit Picks-something-or-other in my Strawberry colorway.

That’s it from me, for now! What are y’all working on? Whatever it is, happy crafting!

This week’s post will be very condensed. It’s my mom’s last day in town, and I don’t want to spend too much of it on the computer.  It’s been a bittersweet visit as always– I’ve been reminded of how much I miss my hometown family, but things have been crazy for the past week, so I’ll be glad to get back into our normal rhythms. Anyhow, the photo-bombardment starts NOW:

That’s all I have for today! Hopefully I can check back in tomorrow with more chatter, photos, announcements, etc. Until then, happy crafting!

IMG_3819I’m still pushing through the Dance Fever… Saying it like that makes it sound like I’m recovering from a disease, lol! I’m still in love with it, but this is some of the thinnest wheel-spun spinning I’ve ever done. I gotta say, it’s killing my poor fingers. I think, from now on, I’m gonna save the super thin singles for my spindles. It takes a lot longer, but for some reason, I don’t get the impending carpet burn that I’m dealing with now.

In other news, I got some fun mail this week! My Rav BFF, Stephanie (aka lonestarknits) is not only an amazing knitter, but quite the seamstress!

For me…

For you!

So, just how do you get your hands on this fabulousness? Join my Ravelry group and check out this thread for the deets! I love these bags and really had a hard time choosing which one to give away, but the pinks and greys in the top bag eventually won me over. The bag that’s up for grabs is  a cotton, flat bottomed, drawstring bag with a nifty little toggle that you can throw over your wrist for knitting on the go!

And that’s all for me today. More spinning, dyeing, knitting, and spinning and dyeing and knitting to do. Are you spinning up anything special?

Happy crafting!

I don’t know if you realized it, but the Tour de Fleece officially kicks off in 10 DAYS!! I can hardly stand it! So, of course, the logical thing to do is to break into a 4 ounce braid and start spinning lace weight singles… At any rate, it’ll be fun (I think?) and rather impressive if I can get this off the wheel by then. I don’t know why I’m always drawn to such crazy, unprovoked, time-crunched challenges. Anyhow, the fiber is my own, in the Dance Fever colorway, on 100% Merino and I love it! There are pops of hot pink, orange, yellow, and red throughout the fiber and it’s just plain fun. I’m hoping to be able to participate in my first craft show this fall, and want to get a few of my colorways spun up so they can get knit into “shop samples”. I think this would make for an awesome shawl!

In other news on the fiber front, something a bit disappointing:

IMG_3797

This is the raw alpaca fleece I purchased from the wool market in Estes Park (and FYI: I had 5.2 ounces, not 3.5). This was very… well packaged; I didn’t notice a speck of vm (veggie matter– hay, grass, etc.) until I pulled all of the fiber out of its bag when getting ready to wash it. Needless to say, I was a little disappointed 😦 I’m just hoping that anything I can’t directly pick out by hand will come out with a few runs through the drum carder…

A few FOs perhaps?

Handspun… This is also in the Dance Fever colorway, on my BFL base.

That’s about it for me today! I’ve got lots of spinning to do, and I better get to it while Boy is snoozing and Things 1 and 2  are occupied with their fanciful imaginings. Are you spinning up any fun these days? Either way, happy crafting!

I’m still chugging along, trying to get through this fluff! That bit that’s tossed across the back of the wheel (a bit haphazardly, I might add) is all that’s left of the second half and then I’ll be ready to ply.  Seems crazy, but I think a portion of this fiber is missing, because I’ve clearly got more fiber packed onto that first bobbin than I have on the second. I caught my 3-year-old walking around yesterday with some fiber wrapped around her neck like a scarf, so there’s no telling what else she may be stashing! But we’ll see what happens!

On the knitting front, my sweater is slowly growing:

IMG_3441

It’s all mindless knitting in the round now, for another 10 inches or so, then I’ll separate for the back and front flaps. Or something. I don’t know, I haven’t read that far into the pattern.  But as for what I am reading, the girls and I are slowly reading through the Marvelous Land of Oz. Maybe about a chapter a week.  The chapters are a bit long for Marlee (the 3-yar-old), so it’s usually reserved for right before nap time or right before bed.  We’re all loving it though, especially how General Jinjur’s Army of Revolt uses knitting needles as their weapons. My girls just think that means they get to grab all of my spare needles and pretend to knit while I’m reading. Whatever brings them back to fiber…

In other news, don’t forget about the Tour de Fleece team! We’re growing– we’re at 5 members now! Needless to say, you’ll have a great chance at winning a prize 😉

Happy crafting, friends!
